EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- A Madison County judge has sentenced a southern Illinois man to four years in prison for a vehicle crash that killed a Granite City man and his pregnant girlfriend in 2007.
Shaun Myers of Caseyville in suburban St. Louis pleaded guilty in a June plea bargain to two counts of reckless homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident. The 29-year-old also was sentenced Friday to four year probation in the deaths of 18-year-old Mary Drayton and her 30-year-old boyfriend Jerimiah Phelps on Nov. 12, 2007, as they were walking in Granite City, where they lived.
During his sentencing, Myers said he was sorry for any role he played in the deaths.
Myers faces civil lawsuits from family members of both victims.
