ALTON - A draft, Community Development Block Grant budget sailed through an aldermanic committee Monday with a unanimous vote of recommendation.
No one asked any questions regarding the $799,284 budget, of which $175,000 would be used for infrastructure improvements. Other components are: $10,000, youth employment; $276,284, code enforcement; $113,000, housing services; $25,000, tree removal and demolitions; $170,000, economic development; and $30,000, commercial rehabilitations.
The money originates with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; the federal government's fiscal years run Oct. 1 to Sept. 30.
