INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Robbie Hummel had 19 points and 12 rebounds, and JaJuan Johnson scored 20 points, leading No. 24 Purdue past Illinois 66-56 in the Big Ten tournament semifinals.
The victory ends Purdue's three-game losing streak against the Illini and sends the third-seeded Boilermakers (24-9) into their first tourney title game since 1998. They face fifth-seeded Ohio State on Sunday.
Illinois (24-9) was led by Dominique Keller with 16 points.
Purdue closed the first half on a 14-0 run to make it 37-17 at halftime. The Fighting Illini never got closer than 10 the rest of the way.
