SEATTLE -- Two people were missing and three were hurt Saturday after two avalanches near Snoqualmie Summit, a ski resort about 45 miles east of Seattle.
Initial reports said three people were missing.
At milepost 47, three people were snow shoeing, one person has a shoulder injury and a hamstring injury and the third person was not hurt.
At milepost 50, 13 people were hiking when an avalanche happened. One person was missing and another was suffering from hypothermia.
The group of 13 people was told to stay where they were. Rescue workers know where they are and it's a four-hour hike in to reach them.
Rescue crews gathered at Alpental ski area before heading out to search.
Interstate 90 is not affected by the avalanches.
