(KMOV.com) -- The American Red Cross continues to offer assistance to residents in areas hit hardest by this week’s powerful storms, according to a release on Saturday.
In Hazelwood, a 24-hour Red Cross shelter remains open at the Hazelwood Civic Center at 8969 Dunn Road. Staff and volunteers are providing food, shelter and emotional support to residents in need.
Red Cross officials say the shelter will remain open as long as there is a need.
On Friday, 10 people reportedly spent the night in the Red Cross shelter in Hazelwood.
Red Cross volunteers have served at least 290 meals and 380 snacks to those affected by the storms. The shelter is also staffed with a volunteer nurse.
Red Cross staff and volunteers are doing mobile meal delivery in the affected neighborhoods in Hazelwood, serving lunch to volunteers, emergency responders and residents on Saturday.
Red Cross caseworkers continue to assist families in the affected areas of Hazelwood as well as in Sullivan, MO.
