BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- A man has been ordered to spend 45 years in prison in a 2007 southwestern Illinois shooting death.
Twenty-eight-year-old Kenny Wicks Jr. was sentenced Tuesday in St. Clair County. That’s where he was convicted in January of first-degree murder for the death of 20-year-old James Earl Rogers of Cahokia.
Authorities say Wicks shot Rogers to death in the victim’s apartment after going there with the intent to rob him. Prosecutors say Wicks and at least one other defendant fled empty-handed.
Rogers’ body was later found by a friend.
