ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) -- The St. Louis Cardinals may be well-represented for the 2012 All-Star game in Kansas City if the initial votes hold steady until the next month.
Seven Cardinals have a legitimate chance to make it to the All-Star game this year, including the injured Lance Berkman, who is second in votes among NL first baseman.
In addition to Berkman, shortstop Rafael Furcal, third baseman David Freese and outfielder Carlos Beltran are second at their respective positions in the initial voting.
Catcher Yadier Molina is narrowly leading the San Francisco Giants’ Buster Posey in votes as the number one catcher in the NL.
Outfielders Matt Holliday and Jon Jay are in the top-15 in the NL outfield voting.
The 83rd Major League All-Star Game will be played on July 10.
