ST. CHARLES (KMOV) -- A man is in jail after he allegedly burglarized a St. Louis hotel on Tuesday just before it caught on fire.
Thomas Charles Gilley III, 23, was charged with first-degree burglary after he admitted trying to steal scrap metal from the hotel, which is located at 3717 Veterans Memorial Parkway.
Gilley was arrested by state fire marshals in Union, Missouri on Thursday.
Authorities said they believe Gilley started the fire by accident during the burglary. Arson charges are pending, according to police.
