SWAT standoff ends at home near Kirkwood after military vet surrenders

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) – Police surrounded a home near Kirkwood on Monday after a military veteran locked himself inside.

St. Louis County police said the man, 32, locked himself inside his home in the 2500 block of St. Giles around 2 p.m. and began making threats to harm himself and his family.

Police said the man, who formerly served in Iraq and suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, had several guns inside his home.

SkyZoom 4 was on the scene and captured several St. Louis County police officers patrolling different spots around the man’s house.

Police said SWAT on the scene got the man to eventually surrender. He was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for evaluation.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
