Convenience stores charged with violating liquor laws

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- The St. Clair County States Attorney's office has brought charges against three of four Crown Foods Gas and Convenience Marts in East St. Louis.

The charges allege that the stores may have violated the security ordinance governing liquor selling establishments and the nuisance laws governing businesses.

The Liquor Commissioner has temporarily suspended the businesses' liquor licenses until a hearing on Wednesday in the Mayor's Conference Room. The businesses' could have to pay penalties and even have their liquor licenses revoked.

The Crown locations charged are the 306 River Park Drive, 346-8 Collinsville Avenue, and 8301 State Street.
