ST. LOUIS -- A wayward deer’s brief venture into downtown St. Louis came to a tragic end near the Arch on Friday.
Police say the deer was spotted at several downtown locations, including a busy area on Washington Avenue near the convention center and inside a parking garage. Police believe it may also have jumped through a glass window of a Washington Avenue business.
The deer eventually ended up on Memorial Drive near the Gateway Arch. Police spokeswoman Katie O’Sullivan says it was struck and killed by a car.
Deer are increasingly showing up in suburban St. Louis, but are rarely seen in densely populated parts of the city.
