ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) – Police say they are beefing up patrols in Forest Park after several vehicles were broken into outside a popular festival Wednesday night.
Authorities said 15 cars were broken into in the parking lot a few hundred yards away from where the Shakespeare Festival production of “Othello” was being put on.
At least seven piles of broken glass were found in a parking lot just west of the St. Louis Art Museum at the top of art hill.
According to reports, a purse was stolen from one vehicle and clothing and a box of checks was stolen from another.
There are street lights around the parking lot, but it is surrounded by trees and bushes and is somewhat secluded.
Police say in addition to beefing up patrols, officers are working with the park rangers who look over the parking lots while police watch the streets.
Police said additional cameras in Forest Park is also a possibility.
