ATLANTA (BaseballStL) -- In a stretch of mediocre play, the St. Louis Cardinals will look to outfielder Matt Holliday for a much needed pick-me-up following back-to-back series losses.
The reason why Holliday may be the right man for the job is because he is getting hot heading into June. Holliday collected his fourth consecutive two-hit game in as many days Wednesday to raise his average to a modest .281 following a sluggish April when he hit .215.
The four-time Silver Slugger winner is 8-for-15 in the four game stretch in which the Cardinals have scored a total of 27 runs, seven of which involving Holliday.
In the month of May, Holliday has an impressive .340 average with six home runs, 21 runs batted in and a .432 on-base percentage.
