BRENTWOOD, Missouri (KMOV) -- Charges have been filed against a man who allegedly robbed a woman at the Brentwood Promenade on Monday before leading police on an hour-long chase through the bi-state area.

Mar’Kele Prince was charged with first-degree robbery and armed crminal action. He's currently being held on a $75,000 bond.

According to police, Prince robbed a woman at gunpoint in the parking lot near the Shane Co. at the Brentwood Promenade just before 1 p.m. Monday.

Police said he pulled up to a woman walking in the parking lot and demanded her purse at gunpoint. She gave it up and a witness called police.

Prince then fled the promenade in a white Chevrolet Impala, leading police on a pursuit into the metro area along Interstate 64 and I-70.

Several times during the chase he was seen going the wrong way along the interstate, travelling nearly 70 mph according to police.

Officers used spike strips to slow the car as the suspect exited highway 70 at Broadway, blowing out the front two tires.

Prince drove with blown tires to north St. Louis County, where the chase ended in the 7900 block of Church Street.“He’s a bad guy. We don’t know exactly how bad yet though,” said Sergeant McIntyre. “But anytime he’s either implying or flourishing a weapon and taking purses...that’s somebody we want of the street for sure.”

Police said Prince could also be linked to several other robberies in the St. Louis area.
