EAST ST. LOUIS, Illinois (KMOV.com) -- Firefighters in East St. Louis battled three house fires at two separate scenes Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the scenes wereonly a few blocks apart. Fire officials said crews were called to both scenes around 6:45 a.m.
One fire was located in two homes on 39th Street between St. Claire and Summit avenues. It appears one home caught fire and the flames spread to a neighboring home.
The second fire was located a few blocks away. The exact address of that fire was unknown, but heavy smoke was seen pouring from the roof.
Initial reports suggested all the homes were vacant.
Firefighters were able to the get the fires under control within an hour. No one was injured battling the fire.
