O'FALLON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- An O'Fallon family is safe after a neighbor alerted them that their house was on fire early Monday morning.
The fire started in a duplex in the 200 block of Park Ridge around 12:20 a.m.
Officials said a neighbor noticed the duplex was on fire and alerted the residents. Everyone got out safely. A family pet was also rescued. Two people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
The fire reportedly started on the back porch of the duplex, but the cause is unknown. The side of the duplex where the fire started is considered to be a total loss. The other side is liveable, authorities said. Fire officials expect to release more information at a later time.
