ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Police are looking for three masked teenagers who shot at two men walking their dog through Benton Park Tuesday night.
Neighbors tell me that they've felt safe on the park-front street Wyoming, so much so that one woman said she was so surprised to hear gunfire that she just assumed it was fireworks!
Clearly, something's not right when people are walking around with their faces covered with clothes, so when the two victims saw the trio, they took off running but got shot anyway. one of the bullets hit a 34-year-old man in the foot.
He told police two guys and a girl -- all about teenagers -- seemed to be waiting to ambush someone. It happened around 10:30 Tuesday night. Neighbors say it's quite common to see people taking their dogs out for a last walk before bed.
"They went to walk the dog and usually go down Illinois, come around [the park] and then back and I heard this 'pop pop pop,' and I said oh my god," a neighbor who called 911 said. "I slammed the door, ran back upstairs and called 911."
According to St. Louis Police records online, this is the second shooting in the entire Benton Park neighborhood this year. If you have any information that can help detectives find these three teenage gunmen, call police.
