EDWARDSVILLE, Illinois (KMOV) – A Metro-East man has been charged after he allegedly beat his 5-month-old son.
Alexander Brooks, 19, was charged with two counts of felony aggravated battery to a child.
Police said Brooks twisted the leg of his son and squeezed him, causing multiple rib fractures, while at his home in Wood River.
The fractures were discovered by doctors in December after Brooks’ wife brought the child to Cardinals Glennon for an exam.
Police said temporary custody of the child was given to a family member of the mother after he was released from the hospital.
Brooks is currently not in custody. His bond was set at $250,000.
He could face from six to 30 years in prison if found guilty.
