2-Alarm blaze destroys Edwardsville home

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV) – Crews battled a two-alarm fire that engulfed a home in Edwardsville Tuesday afternoon.

Fire crews arrived to the scene in the 400 block of East Union Road around 4 p.m. and found the house engulfed in flames.

Multiple fire departments came to assist after a second alarm was pulled. They eventually got the fire under control around 5 p.m.

In addition to Edwardsville, crews from Maryville, Holiday Shores and Wood River helped battle the fire to rotate crews in and out.

Despite the effort, fire fighters were unable to save the house

There was no one home at the time of the fire and no injuries are reported.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
