ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) – The St. Louis Cardinals agree to terms with three 16-year-old players from Latin America on Monday, the first day teams are allowed to sign players who were not in last month’s First Year Player Draft.

The signings of OF Luis Bandes, C Joshua Lopez and SS Edmundo Sosa are subject to passing a physical and MLB background checks.

According to scouts, Bandes is the most advanced of the three “with power potential that projects him as a middle of the lineup bat.”  Lopez is considered a “good” two-way player and Sosa is listed as “one of the few pure shortstops” in this year’s class.

The three players will be assigned to the Cardinals academy in the Dominican Republic after passing the physicals and background checks.
