ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Several local leaders went on a tour Thursday morning to check out the completion of the two towers on the new Mississippi River Bridge.

The Missouri Department of Transportation, Illinois Department of Transportation and contractor Massman Traylor Alberici led local, state and federal leaders to view the new towers.

The tour started at the Gateway Arch Riverboat Cruise docks and let leaders take a look at the new towers and get information about construction progress on the bridge as a whole.

The completed $667-million bridge, located just north of downtown, is expected to open in January, 2014.
