CINCINNATI (BaseballStL) – Brewers outfielder Nyjer Morgan has a way of getting under the skin of, well, everyone – and he was back at it again on Wednesday.
Morgan was tracking a foul ball down the right field line when a Reds fan attempted to catch the ball but instead (likely accidentally) wrapped the right fielder’s glove and arm. Morgan then pushed the fan and gave a glare as the fan jawed back at him.
After the game, he told reporters he understands the home fans are supposed to disrupt the opponent from making a catch.
“It was nothing major,” Morgan told MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy. “I would have done the same thing.”
According to his Twitter account, Morgan has several aliases which include ‘Tony Plush’, ‘Mr. Eezzy Brezzy’ and ‘Antonio Picante.’ But it was likely the ‘Mr. Gotta B Startin Somthin’ nickname he was playing under during the 8-4 Brewers victory.
Morgan was 0-for-4 and left five runners on base on Wednesday. This season, Morgan is hitting .233 with two home runs and four RBIs in 65 games.
