Charges filed against man who allegedly stole 'bath salts,' led officers on chase

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo (KMOV) – Charges have been filed against a man suspected of stealing synthetic drugs before leading police on a chase in St. Charles County.

Ryan Anderson, 35, was charged Tuesday with second-degree robbery and resisting arrest, both felonies.

Police said Anderson walked into 94 Bait and Tackle shop in Weldon Springs around 6:30 a.m. Monday and grabbed synthetic bath salts before running from the store.

Authorities said police began chasing Anderson after he was spotted near the Winghaven area.

The pursuit went into the Wentzville area, where Anderson ditched his car and fled.

Authorities said he was later spotted by Wentzville police in the creek bed areas west of Highway 61.

Anderson was later apprehended around 2 p.m. after being found in a wooded area near Highway 61 and North Point Prairie Road.

No injuries were reported.

Anderson was taken into custody, where he remains on a $50,000 bond.
