MIAMI (BaseballStL) – Carlos Beltran is inching closer to 2,000 career hits after notching two more hits on Monday night in Miami. He now sits three away from the milestone.
Beltran, who has hit safely in 16 of his last 17 games, has been on a tear since May 1 batting 60-for-178 (.337) with 15 home runs and 46 RBIs.
The switch-hitter has batted .284 in 1,839 career games with the Kansas City Royals, Houston Astros, New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals.
Earlier this season, Beltran became the first ever switch-hitter with 300 home runs and 300 stolen bases.
