ST. PETERS, Mo (KMOV.com) -- A man and a woman are accused of having two underage girls engage in sex acts with several men in St. Peters.
Demond Day, 33, of O’Fallon was charged with sexual trafficking of a child and Tiffany Piper, 21, of St. Peters was charged with being an accessory to sexual trafficking of a child. They are being held on $200,000 cash-only bond.
According to police, the suspects met the two girls in Troy, Missouri and asked if they would be interested in being paid for sex acts.
Court documents indicate that the 17-year old girls were provided with condoms, marijuana, and instructions on how to be prostitutes.
The acts themselves took place at an Extended Stay at 5555 Veterans Memorial Parkway in St. Peters.
The girls worked out of the hotel room for almost two weeks, performing sex acts with 10-20 people.
Investigators said they learned what was happening when they saw an ad posted on the website “backpage.com.”
The investigation strikes a chord with Katie Rhoades. In her early 20s, Rhoades was forced into prostitution for two years and managed to escape.
She says the internet is making it easier to prostitute young, girls.
“It can be relatively up front with leaving half truths out - so they might not know that they may get involved in stripping, or something legal, but then it might turn into prostitution, it might turn into exploitive acts,” she said.
And that’s what happened in this case.
The two teenagers do not face any charges and have been released to their parents.
The Extended Stay is also not in any trouble for the activity. The St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department tells News 4 the business was unaware of what was happening.
