East St. Louis, MO (63042) -- A Cahokia, Illinois man was sentenced Monday to three years in prison for unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to court documents, Willie J. Fair, 24, was caught with the firearms during a search for a suspect who had stolen a car. Police believed the suspect had ran into Building 21 in the Orr Weather Public Housing Complex and knocked on Fair's door.
Police searched his apartment finding four firearms, magazines and rounds of ammunition. A Hi-Point .380 caliber, semi-automatic pistol was found in a deep freezer. Fair admitted he owned the pistol and put it in the freezer when police arrived. Another felon in the apartment was also arrested for possession of one of the other firearms.
Fair will also pay a $200 fine, a $100 special assessment, and serve 3 years of supervised release when he leave prison.
