Police looking for St. Charles jewelry thief

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Police are looking for the man they say robbed a St. Charles jewelry store on Monday morning.

Melissa Doss with the St. Peter’s Police Department said the suspect walked into Smith Jewelry and Coins in the 4200 block of Old Highway 94 around 10:40 a.m. and demanded money.  According to reports, the suspect displayed a handgun. 

Authorities said the suspect left the store with about 100 assorted rings.  The rings were mostly gold and had various stones set in them.

Police describe the suspect as a white male in his 40's with white hair, beard and goatee.  He is short with a stocky build.  He was last seen driving a white Ford Explorer.

Nobody was injured during the robbery.  Anyone with information about the suspect or stolen jewelry is asked to contact St. Peters Police Detective Paul Barish at (636) 278-2244, ext. 3531.
