GLEN CARBON, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- A man from Glen Carbon, Illinois died Sunday after his truck left the roadway and struck a concrete pillar that supports an interstate.
Police said Carter Long, 50, was driving along the ramp to northbound I-255 from northbound I-55/70 at Collinsville around 2:50 p.m. when he lost control of his 2003 Dodge Ram 1500.
Long's truck left the roadway and hit several concrete pillars that support the I-255 overpass.
Collinsville and State Park Fire Departments removed Long from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene around 3:50 p.m.
According to reports, Long died as a result of blunt chest and abdominal trauma.
Toxicological studies are being conducted to detect any possible signs of drugs or alcohol.
