FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A Ferguson man faces felony charges after he allegedly tried to kidnap his neighbor's 8-year-old son Friday night.
Police say Jedidiah Burks, 27, drove up and grabbed the boy as he was riding his bike in 2100 block of Vitadale Court around 7 p.m.
Burks then allegedly threw the victim in his car and took off. Police say the boy's father tried to stop the vehicle by holding on to the car's driver side window, but was thrown off as the suspect sped up.
The father then ran into his home and called 911, according to police, before chasing Burks in his own vehicle. Police say he found his son standing on the street a few blocks away.
Authorities are not sure why Burks allegedly tried to kidnap the 8-year-old. According to police, he and the boy's father did not know each other well.
Burks has been charged with kidnapping and second-degree assault. He is being held at the St. Louis County jail on $75,000 bond.
