SEALY, Texas – A teenager has been charged with the murder of a Texas mother of five whose body was found in a motel over the weekend.
The body of Lisa Camille Land, 30, was found Friday at the Best Budget Inn at 1241 N. Circle Dr.
The 15-year-old suspect had just moved to Sealy from East Bernard and was living at the same motel.
He was taken into custody Monday night after an investigation by Sealy police and Texas Rangers.
Land had been staying at the motel in the weeks before she was killed.
The manager, Lawrence Garbs, said he arrived at her room to collect rent on Friday and saw a man quickly pull back the blinds. No one answered the door, so he left.
When he returned a few minutes later, the door was cracked and he saw Land’s body.
"She’s laying on the ground and not moving at all," Garbs said.
Land was a waitress at Hinze’s Barbeque.
Co-worker David Alani described her as a "nice, adorable sweetheart."
He said the young mother was just trying to get back on her feet.
Owners of a nearby gas station have handed surveillance video over to authorities.
The suspect, whose name is not being released because of his age, is being held at the Fort Bend County Juvenile Facility.
