COLUMBIA, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- The major case squad has been disbanded after authorities determined a man found dead in his Columbia, Illinois home died from an overdose.
Captain Jeff Wild said initial reports suggest Craig Wood, 45, died from some sort of drug overdose.
Wood was found dead in his home on Sunday. The type of drug used in the overdose has not been determined, but investigators report that synthetic marijuana and a white substance were found in the home.
Further toxicology results will determine an exact cause of death in the coming weeks, authorities said.
Initially, Wood’s death was being investigated as a homicide. After the initial cause of death report, agents from the major case squad exited the investigation since Wood's death was no longer considered suspicious.
