ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) – It was one month to the day that the wheels came off of Jake Westbrook’s stellar start to the season as he has posted a 0-4 record with a 7.55 ERA since May 14.
On Thursday, Westbrook ditched the terrible stretch of six-starts, which ballooned his ERA from 1.76 to 4.25, for six quality innings that included holding the White Sox hitless until the fifth inning.
The only hiccup of his night came on Adam Dunn’s twenty-second home run that was hit with two outs in the sixth inning. Westbrook, who was taken out in the bottom half of the inning, threw only 67 pitches for his first win since May 8.
It was also the first time Westbrook did not record multiple strikeouts in a game this season.
