Shoe drive in St. Louis to help people across the globe

ST. LOUIS -- The Shoeman Water Projects is holding one of the largest shoes drives in St. Louis history starting Thursday.

The organization says it plans to collect as many shoes as possible, then sell them at affordable prices. The money collected will fund drills and water filtration systems for clean water in Kenya and Haiti.

The goal is to collect 250,000 new or used shoes.

Shoes can be dropped off between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. every day until Saturday.

Drop-off ocations include 25 St. Louis-region Wal-Marts, including Arnold, Belleville, Chesterfield, Collinsville, Eureka, Farmington, Fenton, Festus, House Springs, Kirkwood, Lake St. Louis, Manchester, Maplewood, O’Fallon, Potosi, West Florissant, Telegraph Road, St. Charles, St. Peters, Sullivan, Warrenton, Washington, Waterloo, Wentzville and O’Fallon, Illinois.
