Molina trails Posey, Tulo leads Furcal in latest All-Star count

ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) – It is less than a month away to the All-Star Game, which will be held July 10 in Kansas City, and the Cardinals have several players in contention to join the NL’s best as they aim to obtain home field advantage in the World Series.

Catcher Yadier Molina was surpassed by the Giants’ Buster Posey since the initial votes came out last week.  As of Wednesday, he is second behind Posey by 137,640 votes.

Shortstop Rafael Furcal is trailing the Rockies’ Troy Tulowitzki by less than 18,000 votes.  Furcal leads Cubs’ Starlin Castro, who sits in third, by more than 444,000 votes.

David Freese is less than 9,000 votes from second place in voting for the third base position.  David Wright is first and Pablo Sandoval is currently second.

Carlos Beltran and Matt Holliday are second and sixth, respectively, in votes among outfielders.  Matt Kemp, Ryan Braun, Melky Cabrera and Andre Ethier are also in the top-six.
