ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A new round of problems have popped up for James Adam Jenkins, also known as Mr. Beef jerky.

The Missouri Attorney General is cracking down and forcing Jenkins to refund St. Louis area firefighters who got entangled in Jenkins’ beef stick business.

Firefighters say Jenkins promised them distribution rights for various territories around St. Louis, but after taking the money the beef sticks stopped coming.

That was last May. Then in February, News 4 heard from Kelli Jones.

Jones says she got hired by Jenkins’ company and thought some of the proceeds were going to charity, but saw no proof.

Now the Missouri Attorney General is forcing Jenkins to show where the money’s going.

And from here out, the beef canisters must be labeled as for-profit.

When News 4 confronted Jenkins, he was in trouble with some hunters who claimed he was running a scam in Oklahoma. Now one of his business investors is suing Jenkins in Tulsa for fraud and is seeking repayment of more than $250,000.

News 4 tried to contact Jenkins’ attorney last week, but we have not heard back.

The Oklahoma Attorney General says they continue to monitor Jenkins’ business practices in their state.
