Missing elderly woman found after wandering from Fenton home

FENTON, Mo. (KMOV)-    Jefferson County deputies have located an elderly woman who wandered from her home early Tuesday morning.

Officers located 71-year-old Margaret Munsell in a creek bed behind a Big Lots retail store on Gravois and 141 at 5:30 a.m. She was spotted by the police helicopter with the help of blood hound search dogs and heat sensor technology.

Authorities say the husband of the missing woman woke up around 1 a.m. to find his wife, Munsell,  missing from his home located on the 100 block of Samarra Estates.  

According to authorities, Munsell is suffering from early stages of Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease.

Deputies were using the St. Louis County Police Department's helicopter and K9 units to assist in the search. Fire crews from around the area were also called in and were seen with flashlights searching along roadways near the subdivision.

Munsell is described as a white female, 71-years-old, 5'1" and 240 pounds. She has grey hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing light-colored clothing.
