ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) – It has been a while since the Cardinals have faced Adam Dunn, but not much has changed about the powerful left-handed hitter at the plate.
Dunn has been stockpiling the strikeouts this season to the tune of 96 through 60 games, but he has already smacked nine more home runs and is batting 67 points higher with four more RBIs than he did in 2011.
Dunn, who is 15 home runs shy of 400 in his career, is coming off an impressive series against the Houston Astros where he was 5-for-12 with two home runs and seven RBIs.
It is the first series this year the White Sox will play without the designated hitter and Dunn is expected to be in the lineup against Tuesday’s starter Adam Wainwright. He is 8-for-18 with eight walks in his career against Wainwright.
