ST. LOUIS (KMOV) --Police are putting suspected shoplifters on notice.
Officers from nearly a dozen St. Louis and St. Charles county police departments arrested 38 people accused of shoplifting in a warrant sweep.
Some were repeat offenders, having committed other crimes. Those 38 arrests actually cleared 123 warrants.
“Wwe want to send a message that we're going to take this seriously and as a region this impacts everybody,” said Captain Jeff Gray of the O’Fallon Police Department. “It's a significant problem.”
Officers were looking for people who had been charged with shoplifting but failed to show up for court.
