FLORISSANT, Mo. (KMOV) – A Florissant mother forced to take on an intruder to protect her young daughter says she was furious to learn the suspect is a repeat offender.
Antoinette Jones said she was at her home two weeks ago when she heard someone breaking the glass on her back door.
Jones said she called 911 and hid under her bed next to her 4-year-old daughter.
She listened as the thief rummaged through her home.
“He came into our bedroom where we were and when he saw me he dove on top of me, he said ‘aw (crap),’ you know, like he was shocked someone was home,” Jones said.
The two tusseled into the hallway and Jones says she went red with rage when the burglar grabbed at her daughter.
“He tried reaching for her little dress that she had on and at that point I just completely like blacked out, lost it,” Jones said.
Jones identified the suspect, Ryan Holiday, in a police line-up last week. The 19-year-old in April was sentenced to 120 days shock time for breaking into five homes in Florissant last fall.
He was credited with time served and set free.
“I can’t believe that at all,” Jones said. “Had I not identified him, he would have been able to keep doing the same thing he was doing.”
Holiday is now in custody on a $100, 000 cash-only bond.
