Florissant, MO (KMOV.com) -- Two Florissant businesses are holding fundraisers to help out the family of Officer Mike Vernon, who was shot in the line of duty on Memorial Day.

The first fundraiser was held at Cugino's Italian Bar and Grill, located at 1595 N. US Highway 67 in Florissant.

The benefit featured raffles, 50/50 games, auctions and prizes and a bags tournament, which started at 2 p.m.

Another benefit, called the Hair Cut-a-thon, took place the same day at Salon 67 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All proceeds that day at the salon, located at 1143 N. Highway 67 in Florissant, went directly to Officer Vernon.

Officer Vernon was shot three times after responding to a burglary. Vernon’s family says he suffered a spinal cord injury and will most likely be paralyzed for life.
