ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – On Thursday morning, a Metro bus was involved in an accident that caused it to overturn on Interstate 64 in Illinois.
Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene around 9:15 a.m. The bus was traveling westbound on the interstate when the driver lost control causing the rig to overturn near mile marker "7." The bus came to rest in the median of the interstate.
According to officials with the Illinois State Police, the driver was the only occupant on the bus at the time of the crash. The driver was reportedly injured, but the injures do not appear to be serious. A tow truck was able to get the bus upright rather quickly and without further incident.
Police said no other vehicles were involved and it's not immediately clear what caused the accident.
One lane of the interstate was closed to accommodate emergency vehicles.
