Jefferson County woman wins $1 million Powerball prize

(KMOV) – A Jefferson County woman is considering a new car after winning a $1 million Powerball prize in the June 8 drawing.

Mona Diss, 57, bought the ticket from the Mobil On the Run in the 1600 block of Highway Z in Peveley.

She won after matching the five white numbers of 2, 11, 22, 26 and 31.

Diss said she didn’t realize she had won until store employees encouraged her to check her tickets during a visit.

The Match 5 prize is paid a in a lump sum, meaning Diss will get a $710,000 check after taxes.

She is the 19th player to win a Match 5 prize in Missouri since the game changed in early 2012.
