(Baseball StL) -- Cardinals outfielder Carlos Beltran has taken the lead among outfielders in the most recent voting results for the National League All Star team. Beltran moved ahead of Justin Upton of the Atlanta Braves and Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals. Beltran currently has 16 homeruns, 44 rbi’s and a .306 batting average. He was a starter on last year’s All Star team.

Yadier Molina has made a significant gain on Buster Posey in the voting at the catcher position. Molina is now just 62,846 votes behind San Francisco’s reigning MVP in the polling.

No other Cardinals player is very close to winning his position, but that could change as the Redbirds play their next seven games at Busch Stadium. With the Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers in town and large crowds expected, Cardinals players should get a big boost in fan support over the next week.

The All Star game will be played on July 16 at Citi Field in New York.
