St. Louis County police work to help the mentally ill

The St. Louis County Police Department continues to train officers for the Crisis Intervention Team.

The initiative, also known as CIT, gives law enforcement officials the skills to handle and help people with mental illness. According to those close to the CIT program, county police respond to 60 to 80 mental health calls every week.

If you or someone you know suffers from a mental illness and need help, CIT officers are always available at various police departments throughout the St. Louis area.
