(KMOV.com) -- Jim Ohl has lived in the same house for 45 years, and never has a bad word to say about anyone. Not even All Seasons Contracting, the company that took almost $5,000 to fix his roof but never completed the work.
"When something like this happens to someone as sweet as that, you kinda think, 'What kind of person would do that to somebody so wonderful?'" said Josh Sears, pastor at St. Charles First Assembly of God. "But it happens, unfortunately."
On Saturday morning, Sears and about a dozen other church members helped replace Ohl's leaky roof free of charge.
"We saw the news clip, that he was interviewed about the scam and everything," said Sears. "And we quickly put a team together to come out and take care of it for him."
Ohl lost $4,700 and is recovering from a ruptured appendix. Still, his only complaint was that he could not climb the ladder and help fix the roof.
"It's amazing," he said. "It really is, and I'm so thankful."
