Man critical after being stabbed by homeless man in Dutchtown

(KMOV.com) -- A man was in critical condition after he was stabbed multiple times in a vacant apartment in the south St. Louis neighborhood of Dutchtown early Tuesday morning.

Authorities said a 21-year-old man and his wife are property managers of an apartment building gin the 4200 block of 38th St.

According to police, the couple heard a noise in a vacant apartment around 1 a.m.

Police said the man went to see what the noise was and came back to his apartment to retrieve a knife before returning to the vacant unit.

Police said that’s when the victim’s wife heard a scuffle and saw a 34-year-old suspect run out the back door of the apartment covered in blood.

The victim’s wife went to the vacant apartment and saw her husband with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police on the scene said the victim and suspect are both Honduran men.

Police said they know the name of the suspect, who is homeless. He was not in custody as of 9 a.m. Tuesday.
