(KMOV.com) -- Pine Lawn police say a burst of gunfire may have been directed at officers parked near Interstate 70 on Sunday morning.
The two officers were using a radar gun at the entrance ramp to westbound I-70 at Goodfellow when they heard gunshots around 5:30 a.m.
The officers opened their doors, then reportedly heard more shots pass above their vehicle's roof.
According to police, the gunfire apparently came from an alley on the other side of the highway. Five shell casings were later found in the 4800 block of Goodfellow.
No one was injured in the shooting.
Pine Lawn police say they believe the officers were targeted, but are not sure why. St. Louis police are assisting in the investigation.
