St. Louis County detective released from hospital after 2-vehicle crash

(KMOV.com) -- A St. Louis County detective was released from the hospital late Saturday night after he was injured in a two-vehicle crash earlier in the afternoon.

The accident happened at the intersection of McCausland and Arsenal around 4:45 p.m.

According to police, the detective was heading north on McCausland in an unmarked cop car when a 51-year-old male driver tried turning left onto Arsenel.

The preliminary investigation shows the other driver didn't yield and hit the police car. The resulting collision damaged the front ends of both vehicles.

Both men were taken to the hospital in serious condition, authorities said.

The officer was released late Saturday night after he sustained a back injury.

The other driver injured his arm and his current condition is unknown.

No tickets have been issued in the crash, and an investigation is ongoing.

Some neighbors say this intersection is especially confusing because it's hard to tell who has the right of way.
