Fort Myers, Fl (KMOV) – A lower back injury to first baseman Albert Pujols forced a late change to the Cardinals lineup for today’s matchup between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox.

Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said the injury is nothing too serious and that the club just wanted to take precautionary measures to avoid risking further injury.

Manager Tony La Russa also addressed the injury and says Pujols will have time to rest because he will not be making the trip with the others players coming to Fort Meyers for tomorrow’s game against the Minnesota Twins.

The late scratch of Pujols caused a change to the Redbirds’ lineup that looks a little bit different than originally planned.
