(KMOV) -- The St. Clair County State Attorney's office charged Estil Stamps, 43, on Saturday with one count of first-degree murder in connection with the murder of 46-year-old Fananza Beard.
Authorities said Beard was found shot to death on a parking lot at the intersection of 33rd St. and Bond Ave. in East St. Louis Thursday night. Stamps was taken into custody by East St. Louis Police at the scene shortly after the murder.
The murder was investigated by the East St. Louis Police Department and the Illinois State Police.
Stamps is being held at the East St. Louis Police Department with bond set at $500,000.
